Greetings to all. My name is Charlie Seelye, I reside in Reno Nevada USA. I've worked with wood since I was 5 years old so that means I've been making sawdust or chips for nearly 56 years. I'm now retired from the mundane postal worker job that I held for 32 years. Have been building furniture and repairing same on the side for over 30years. Recent interest in canes started when I was asked to repair two antique canes. Started reading up on the making and collecting of old and new sticks which led me to try one for myself. Recently completed a turned walnut shaft with a carved jatoba elephant head grip. Natural sticks are scarce in my area so I will be turning shafts. Also my location is high desert with very low humidity, so I have a somewhat different take on what I can do than most of you. Looking forward to learning from all of your accumilated experience. Charlie
