Wood Types
Marvin,
Just got back from turkey hunting. Didn't hear a bird but did come across some nice Beech tree shafts down in a low wet area. I cut a few straight ones and 4 nice twisties. Have you ever used Beech and if so does it make for a strong shaft?
Jeffrey

Beech for sticks
Jerrfrey, I have made a few out of beech and they were fine but We have so many verieties of wood in my area that I tend to use others that I like better. Most types of wood will make a stick. You weill nheed to use a larger one on some types that tend to be brittle, like cedar and poplar. I have even used sumac.
